About Heart-Handed
I have a terrible habit of racing through days: waking up early to grab coffee with a friend, joining a meeting from the phone as soon as I get in the car, maximizing productivity in the office to meet deadlines without compromising time at home with my family. My body and mind struggle to keep up by midday so I down another cup of coffee. Anxious from over-caffeination, I fill the rest of my day with noise and continue as I hop in my car to zip through traffic to make tea-time with my toddler and some stuffed animals. At dinner, we feebly attempt an adult conversation before embarking on clean-up, bedtime, and dishes…and now 8:00 invites my first opportunity to take a moment for myself.
After enough time in this routine, I notice busyness calcifying my soul. Heart-Handed is my effort to break the habit of busyness by engaging in creative works that require a slow pace and invite enjoyment, gratitude, and thoughtfulness.
Heart-Handed is a publication of 2 works to bring joy into your home:
Photography & Woodworking
My love for photography began in the dark room at Mountain View High. Starting with the basics of manual exposure and development and enlarging of 35mm film, I grew enthralled with the slower pace and challenge of creating a photograph. Over a decade later, I still lose track of time creating images. Once it is done, framed, and hung, it invites more moments to pause and slow down.
I have been working with wood for 8 years: I turn vases, bowls, and goblets, make and assemble picture frames and make wall decor, toys, and furniture. Good woodworking is slow, thoughtful, and carefully executed.
Heart-Handed products are hand-crafted with care and made to last a lifetime
Heart-Handed products are made with high-end, long lasting materials. Photos are printed with premium archival inks on acid-free paper, mounted on acid-free mats and foam core. Frames are made of hardwood, finished with all natural hardwax oil and include UV protective glazings. Wood products are patiently crafted by hand with precise attention to detail, enhanced by the character of handmade craftsmanship. I will slow down to produce each piece with care and quality so when you walk by it, you want to slow down and appreciate it in your home. Heart-Handed products are meant to be enjoyed for a long, long time.
